CBD and Anxiety

Bills, work, chores, interactions, struggle, and strife. The backbone of life, and the necessities of achievement. Lifes daily battles for some can be tolerable but for others may cause crippling stress. This is especially common when accompanied with chronic pain/illness, social/emotional conflict, and/or other past/present trauma. Most Americans today have a high amount of responsibilities to juggle. A survey by the American Psychological Association, conducted in 2014, consisting of 3,068 adults, found that the leading cause of stress is money and that 3 in 4 adults experienced stress over finances. Other popular causes of stress in Americans include work, family responsibilities, and health concerns.

Types of Stress:
Stress is normal, and everyone deals with being stressed out from time to time. It can be beneficial to stress and worry when necessary, in order to avoid unpleasant or dangerous situations, but overwhelming stress can make even commonly happy activities absolutely dreary. According to the American Psychological Association, there are three different types of stress:

  • Acute Stress- Most common, short term stress.

  • Episodic Acute Stress- Associated with chaotic environments, lifestyles or habits that cause an overall lack of well being.

  • Chronic Stress- Long term stress that is caused by a situation of life that seemingly has no hope, and cannot be changed without added disarray.

How We Are Affected by Stress:

All these types of stress can affect our physical and mental health. Stress can cause minor to severe physical discomforts such as stomach aches/irregularity, headaches, and muscle pain. If stress is not appropriately handled and continues to elevate, the symptoms may become more dangerous and possibly even fatal depending on the type of stress experienced and how it is being coped with. Unmanageable stress is known to be linked with high blood pressure, heart attacks, and suicide.

Stress can also wreak havoc on personal and professional relationships. People who feel constantly stressed out may also feel angry, depressed, anxious, and experience mood swings. This makes it especially challenging when socializing with others, or maintaining healthy relationships. When our minds and bodies are going through so much disarray, it can be challenging to focus on work or daily responsibilities.

Coping with Stress:

Almost everyone has a preferred method of coping with minor to severe stress, some more beneficial than others. Today, it is very common for adults to de-stress after a long day with an alcoholic beverage, illegal substances or prescribed medications. This may be effective for a brief amount of time, but the long term effects of using harmful, unnatural substances as a daily stress reliever can cause irreversible damage to your body, specifically in the liver and brain. Mind altering substances are also dangerous to use during work hours and can impair your ability to operate machinery.
Lifestyle changes and routines can be an adequate way to relieve stress such as exercise, change of diet, and therapy. Unfortunately for some people making the first steps to change their lifestyles can cause additional stress. For some these techniques may seem overwhelming, or just simply not effective enough on their own, but there is still hope!

Cannabidiol may be just what your body needs to manage and alleviate many types of stress and their symptoms.  Cannabidiol (commonly known as CBD) is a safe, natural compound found in hemp and medical marijuana that is known to have a large array of benefits.

CBD is often associated with “pot” but differs greatly. One big difference is that CBD does not create a psychoactive effect when ingested. Medicinal marijuana has been used for centuries to reduce stress, but for some, the high felt when ingesting cannabis with large quantities of THC  can actually cause anxiety and stress! Furthermore, CBD derived from hemp containing less than .3% TCH is legal in 49 states, and most countries.

Why Use CBD for Stress?

Every living mammal has an endocannabinoid system that has receptors found in our brains and all throughout our bodies. The endocannabinoid system is responsible for maintaining harmony and balance within our bodies, and responds positively to our bodies natural forming endocannabinoids as well as cannabinoids found in other sources such as cannabis. Many scientist theorize that a deficient endocannabinoid system can lead to a number of serious ailments, which include increased depression, anxiety and stress.

Adding CBD to your body may be a great way to balance your endocannabinoid system and reduce stress. CBD is known to be very beneficial, and best of all does not cause any of the unpleasant and harmful side effects commonly experienced when consuming stress relieving medications such as Prozac, or Zoloft. Collectively these medications have side effects including, but not limited to increased anxiety, insomnia, nervousness, dizziness, skin rashes, decreased libido, and nausea. In all the centuries that people have used hemp and cannabis there has never been any reports of fatal overdose, and if you do over consume CBD the only side effect is subtle drowsiness (which often will lead to a great night's sleep that may be just what a stressed out mind needs!)

All About Vaping CBD

An alternative to cigarettes. Are you trying to quit smoking cigarettes? Well, you're not alone. Over 40 million American adults are addicted to cigarettes, and over 480,000 deaths a year can be blamed on smoking cigarettes alone. Cigarettes are known to be hazardous to health due to their content of nicotine, tar, and other harmful chemicals. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance that can cause some people to feel more focused and boost mood, but unfortunately, the withdrawals from nicotine can be extremely unpleasant. Common withdrawal symptoms include anxiety, irritability, restlessness, and headaches. This can make it extremely hard to quit smoking tobacco, but long-term exposure or inhalation of cigarette smoke can lead to chronic lung disease, coronary heart disease, stroke, and cancer of the lungs, larynx, esophagus, mouth, and bladder! So many people know the risk associated with cigarettes but can't seem to quit due to withdrawal symptoms or simply t

Tattooing and CBD

The buzz. The ink. Then the needles. If you are a proud owner of skin that has been inked, you know the process. Cleaning, shaving, stenciling, all leading up to the first initial prick of the needle that penetrates your skin. Then, countless additional pricks all over your body, only to go home and tend to your bloody, peeling work of art. Tattoos are a beautiful way to express ourselves and celebrate our individuality. The commitment to the altered pigment on your body can mean much more than just changing your aesthetic appeal. But there is no denying how much it hurts to earn those marks. With a good tattoo artist, the “deep tissue massage” is worth it all in the end, but it’s only human nature to question the choices that have led you to endure raw pain for hours on end. You’ve probably also thought about ways to make the experience and/or healing process less miserable. The thought of using alcohol to dull your nerves and pain from the tattoo might have tempted you,
