CBD and Athletes

Recently, cannabis and hemp have become increasingly popular in the athletic sport's World. Many people have heard of Olympians (such as Michael Phelps, and Usain Bolt) and other professional athletes (like Jen Shelton, and Nate Diaz ) consuming medical cannabis habitually to aid in their sports training. To some people, this may not make sense, because of the stereotypical stoner, often portrayed in TV and movies, is lazy, sits on the couch all day, glued to the TV, eating a whole pizza pie in one sitting. Unfortunately, this misconception is widely accepted amongst Americans. But the facts are that habitual cannabis consumers are less likely to be obese than non-smoking Americans, and many people are still active and perform most of their daily tasks after consuming cannabis. It’s all about the dosage and strain!

Unfortunately, not all athletes have access to high-quality medical cannabis, and many people simply dislike the narcotic side effects it causes. Thankfully everyone in America can find legitimate, safe, and legal cannabidiol, derived from hemp plants, at The CBD Boutique. CBD is known to have a wide variety of relieving properties, and thankfully for athletes, when using pure CBD, you won’t test positive for THC.

Competing in competitions, or performances, can provide athletes with a sense of pride, joy, and achievement, but long-term effects of high impact sports can cause a large number of health complications. Many athletes start their professional sports careers very young, often before 10 years of age, and by retirement, their bodies are riddled with aches, pains, and scars from having been pushing their bodies to the extreme for so long.

The Realm of Caring Foundation has created a campaign called When Bright Lights Fade, which conducts research on the long-term impact of habitual head injury caused by the repeated clashing of NFL players skulls, and the neurological effect consuming CBD. They examine the mental health of these former football players and explore possible solutions for the after effect of these traumatic injuries. There are many reports of NFL players enduring social, emotional, and physical disarray after or during their professional careers, but thankfully numerous doctors, and scientists believe CBD may be the solution for these otherwise lifelong dilemmas.

You don’t have to be a former NFL player to benefit from the amazing effects of consuming CBD. CBD may be a great first step for people who are currently unhealthy, or overweight and are looking to achieve greater physical and mental strength. Here are some common questions regarding CBD and workouts.

Why use CBD before a workout?
Whether you are a casual gym goer or a professional athlete, you may benefit from including CBD in your daily exercise routine. Research has shown that at an appropriate dosage, during the day CBD has alerting properties, and at night, is when it starts helping with relaxation. Therefore, CBD can possibly provide an energy boost, without the side effects (e.g. anxiety, shakes, inevitable crash etc.,) and calories as you will receive from coffee, or sugary energy drinks. Also, the anti-inflammatory properties, that help manage pain, makes it so most users can increase their performance endurance, and have an overall more successful workout. And for those who are performing in front of large crowds, and experience high anxiety that may affect performance, CBD has had many great reviews when used for calming those nerves.

Why consume CBD after a workout?

Once again the anti-inflammatory properties CBD is known to have, help many people manage pain caused by muscle soreness, cramps, or injuries from their workout. This may help minimize recovery time. Recently, professional UFC former champion, Nate Diaz was shown using a CBD vape pen after taking a brutal beating by Conor McGregor in an exciting match. During the press conference, Diaz was asked what he was smoking and he replied “...CBD, it helps with the healing process and inflammation...” and even goes on to suggest to “get this before and after training, it will make your life a better place.” If this can help a man who can repeatedly withstand blows to the head, imagine how it may benefit low impact sports such as yoga, swimming, or dance.

What other ways does CBD help aid athletic bodies?
Unlike cannabis’s main active component, THC, CBD is known to be an appetite suppressant and helps many people control their diets. That means no over-indulgent “munchies” to worry about. There is even a study conducted in Korea that suggests CBD even helps the body burn more calories! What more is that the stress and anxiety that causes some people to overeat may be suppressed with the daily consumption of CBD.

What is the best way to consume CBD before and after a workout?
Though all the products containing high-quality cannabidiol posses the same active ingredient, some better fit different lifestyles. For before a workout, I would definitely keep it simple and take a dose of Heka Hemp Co. Oral Tincture. This is an effective, easy, way to ingest CBD before a workout and can easily fit into any gym bag without having to worry about it leaking, or melting, and only has 8 calories per milliliter. Other great options include vape products or low-calorie hemp tea.

After a work out the same products can be used, but when experiencing mild to severe muscle soreness, a potent, natural topical cream, like Devore 100mg arnica salve, would be highly effective. For all-over body relief, The CBDelish Bath Bombs are known to be amazing for relieving the pain. Pop one of these bad boys in your tub, and immerse your entire body in 30mg high-quality CBD, along with other natural essential oils that are known to soothe even the most stubborn pains.

Still not fully convinced CBD can help improve your workout endurance, aid in maintaining a healthy athletic body and help with the recovery process? Well don't just take my word for it, hear what an actual professional athlete has to say!
Billy Giron, co-owner of The CBD Boutique - home of Heka Hemp Co., Albuquerque native, and a professional freestyle motocross performer. Being born into a family of bike connoisseur, his natural instinct to ride was apparent at a very young age. His life has revolved around motorcycles since he was 6, and his passion for flying on his dirtbike has taken him all over the world to perform in exclusive high-end shows and events from Europe to Asia. His motocross career began when he was 9, racing at the Sandia parkway, and started jumping professionally at 19. He has performed in shows all over America, but his career riding skyrocketed when he was offered an employment opportunity at the House of Dancing Waters, at the City of Dreams in Macau.

With the thrill of catapulting oneself off a 10-foot high ramp about 45 feet in the air with a 75-foot gap, needless to say, comes with great risks. He has endured countless injuries due to (arguably) the world's most dangerous sport. From broken bones to severe concussions, he’s still never off the bike for long. His greatest daily pain is caused by his back, which has 3 herniated disks and degeneration of the vertebrae. Being a medical cannabis patient, Billy consumes medical marijuana to help aid in recovery with his injuries, but not without also always incorporating CBD products found at The CBD Boutique.

“I’ve used these products two times a day every day for over a year for my back and when I compare it to how it used to be there’s a huge difference!
Hekka Hemp Co Energos oral tincture, and Fat Pig Society Hemp Infused Coconut Oil, is Girons favorite way of consuming CBD daily to help mend his wounds, and manage the pain.

In conclusion...
With no harsh side effects or potential health risks, CBD can be much safer than pharmaceutical painkillers, or diet pills, and can provide a legal aid to your workout. So next time you’re at the gym, arena, dance floor, pool, ramp, field, or wherever you find yourself breaking a sweat, consider adding CBD to your workout routine. Adding CBD to your daily diet is an excellent way of thanking your body for all the incredible things you are capable of!

CBD and Anxiety

Bills, work, chores, interactions, struggle, and strife. The backbone of life, and the necessities of achievement. Lifes daily battles for some can be tolerable but for others may cause crippling stress. This is especially common when accompanied with chronic pain/illness, social/emotional conflict, and/or other past/present trauma. Most Americans today have a high amount of responsibilities to juggle. A survey by the American Psychological Association, conducted in 2014, consisting of 3,068 adults, found that the leading cause of stress is money and that 3 in 4 adults experienced stress over finances. Other popular causes of stress in Americans include work, family responsibilities, and health concerns. Types of Stress:  Stress is normal, and everyone deals with being stressed out from time to time. It can be beneficial to stress and worry when necessary, in order to avoid unpleasant or dangerous situations, but overwhelming stress can make even commonly happy

All About Vaping CBD

An alternative to cigarettes. Are you trying to quit smoking cigarettes? Well, you're not alone. Over 40 million American adults are addicted to cigarettes, and over 480,000 deaths a year can be blamed on smoking cigarettes alone. Cigarettes are known to be hazardous to health due to their content of nicotine, tar, and other harmful chemicals. Nicotine is a highly addictive substance that can cause some people to feel more focused and boost mood, but unfortunately, the withdrawals from nicotine can be extremely unpleasant. Common withdrawal symptoms include anxiety, irritability, restlessness, and headaches. This can make it extremely hard to quit smoking tobacco, but long-term exposure or inhalation of cigarette smoke can lead to chronic lung disease, coronary heart disease, stroke, and cancer of the lungs, larynx, esophagus, mouth, and bladder! So many people know the risk associated with cigarettes but can't seem to quit due to withdrawal symptoms or simply t

Tattooing and CBD

The buzz. The ink. Then the needles. If you are a proud owner of skin that has been inked, you know the process. Cleaning, shaving, stenciling, all leading up to the first initial prick of the needle that penetrates your skin. Then, countless additional pricks all over your body, only to go home and tend to your bloody, peeling work of art. Tattoos are a beautiful way to express ourselves and celebrate our individuality. The commitment to the altered pigment on your body can mean much more than just changing your aesthetic appeal. But there is no denying how much it hurts to earn those marks. With a good tattoo artist, the “deep tissue massage” is worth it all in the end, but it’s only human nature to question the choices that have led you to endure raw pain for hours on end. You’ve probably also thought about ways to make the experience and/or healing process less miserable. The thought of using alcohol to dull your nerves and pain from the tattoo might have tempted you,
